Gerardo “Jay” Mejia was born on September 30, 1959, in Galveston, Texas, to Jesus and Maria Ramirez Mejia. Growing up in a modest household with five siblings, Jay learned early on the value of perseverance and hard work. His early years were spent playing sports, but he left high school before graduating, stepping into the workforce at a young age.
Jay’s career began as a welder’s helper in the construction industry, where a mentor recognized his potential and encouraged him to pursue an apprenticeship. From there, he transitioned into the industrial supply business, starting as a truck driver and eventually working his way up to inside sales and branch management.
Determined to build something of his own, Jay took a leap of faith and founded his own business alongside trusted colleagues. With a deep commitment to customer service, honesty, and a strong work ethic, he built a successful company that carved out a niche in the industry, proving that smaller service-focused businesses could thrive alongside larger corporations.

Beyond business, Jay has always prioritized giving back to the community. From supporting local nonprofits like the Boys & Girls Club and the United Way to discreetly helping families in need, his generosity comes from a place of personal experience. Remembering his own humble beginnings, Jay prefers to give under the radar, ensuring that his contributions truly benefit others rather than seeking recognition.
